High Commission of India is honoured to inform that The Punjab Government has launched an initiative titled “Connect with Your Roots (CYR)” to connect the youth of Punjab origin with their roots in Punjab. The programme would provide them opportunity to visit their native place or the town where their parents or grandparents were born or the place where spent their early years.

2. The two-week programme, is open to young boys and girls between 16-22 years of age, especially those who have never visited India. Besides a home-stay in a village, the itinerary would include visits to various historical monuments and cultural places, and also a chance to savour traditional delicacies of Punjab.

3. The applicant would be expected to bear the cost of his/her travel to India (New Delhi/Amritsar) and back. However, the entire expenditure, including boarding and lodging of the stay in Punjab, would be borne by the Punjab government.

Punjab Government would be happy to welcome the first batch under the CYR programme on the occasion of Lohri around 12^th January, 2018. However, the visit dates can be aligned to coincide with the holiday calendar of Canada.
