The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) is a statutory body established by an Act of Parliament, viz., The Chartered Accountants Act, 1949 for regulating the profession of Chartered Accountants in the country. The ICAI, functions under the administrative control of the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Government of India,. The ICAI has 31 Overseas Chapter all across the World besides 163 branches spread across the country. The ICAI has grown now 284,000 members and over 850,000 students and is the second largest accounting body globally, and represented at all the international forums on accountancy.
