Verification of International Driving Permit (IDP)

issued by Ministry of Road Transport & Highways, Government of India

The High Commission of India in Ottawa is starting an additional Miscellaneous Consular Services for the holder of International Driving Permit (IDP) w.e.f. 15th February, 2021 for verification of their expired IDP as per following procedure.

This service will be provided directly by the High Commission of India, Ottawa. The applicant is required to visit the High Commission (10, Springfield Road, Ottawa) for availing the service.

The applicant is required to submit the following documents:

(a) Miscellaneous Consular Service form

    (available at https://hciottawa.gov.in/pdf/ application_july02_1.pdf)

(b) Indian Passport;

(c) Status in Canada: Visa/work permit/study permit/PR,

(d) Indian Driving license,

(e) Expired International Driving Permit

(f)  Fee: CAD 19 (CAD 16 + CAD 3 ICWF charges)

After verification of the IDP, The High Commission of India will issue a receipt to the applicant mentioning a service number.

After obtaining the receipt from the High Commission, the applicant is required to apply for renewal of IDP through the portal of Ministry of Road Transport & Highways at www.parivahan.gov.in and need to submit prescribed application, upload the documents, including the receipt issued by the High Commission. On receipt of application through the portal, the respective Indian licensing authority will process the request for renewal of the IDP. Further details in this regard can be checked from the website of Ministry of Road Transport & Highways, Government of India.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, walk-in services at the High Commission have been suspended.  Accordingly, for availing this Consular Service, please approach High Commission (cons.ottawa@mea.gov.in) for booking prior appointment.
