Public Health-related advisory for Indian nationals in Canada

seeking to travel within and out of Canada

          The High Commission has been informed that the Government of Canada has announced that all unvaccinated foreigners in Canada are required to be fully vaccinated with approved vaccines for boarding any flight departing Canada from February 28, 2022.  The advisory issued by Transport Canada in this regard can be seen at https://travel.gc.ca/travel-covid/travel-restrictions/domestic-travel .

          All Indian citizens in Canada are advised to go through the above, and other advisories issued by Canadian federal and provincial authorities and familiarize themselves with the changing requirements.

          Indian citizens in Canada may kindly note that Canadian authorities currently recognize both AstraZeneca-Covishield and Bharat Biotech-COVAXIN vaccines made in India for travel purposes.

          Every country has the sovereign right to mandate rules and regulations concerning travel to protect public health.  In this context, the current regulations with regard to foreign arrivals in India can be seen at -

          The High Commission advises all Indian nationals in Canada to respect and comply with the health safety regulations mandated by Canadian authorities. Wearing masks as required, following safe social distancing norms, and getting vaccinated if eligible are recommended.

          Canadian officials have also informed us that vaccination against COVID-19, by approved vaccines, is being provided free of charge to all residents in Canada above the age of 5 years.  All Indian nationals residing in Canada are advised to avail these facilities in consultation with their medical/ healthcare providers.
